My ‘Top 5’ Lists

I totally stole this idea from the brilliant film High Fidelity starring John Cusack and Jack Black and some other cool people (Is it still okay to say ‘cool’ – or should that be ‘hot/hip/sick/random’? I’ll check with my nearly teen-age son). See YouTube . The novel was written by Nick Hornby and is also a good read, but seeing as I’m a fan of both Jack and John I’ll put the film in my first ‘Top 5’ list. I’m going to add to this page from time to time, and I reserve the right to change my mind from time to time too. I might add some pictures and links when I have more time.

NB. These are not necessarily in order!

  1. Lovely to meet you today. Great selection of tunes. Have you heard piss factory by patti?
I was in 14 iced bears now in brighton band called Birds of Death Valley .
Email is BirdsofDeathValley@mac.com. Tweet as @birdsofdvalley
Going to Drill festival in brighton and seeing wire on 7 dec. You going?

    1. Excellent to meet you too. I haven’t got many of Patti’s albums – will have to remedy this! Just looking up your band. Not going to Drill Festival or to see Wire – have got tickets to Nordic Giant’s farewell tour on 11 December. You might be interested in King Porter Stomp free gig in Lewes tomorrow (Friday) although it may not be to your taste.

      1. Hey

Patti takes herself way too seriously now. I saw her play at Charleston where she read poetry! My ears my ears!

However the early stuff is good. If you have ever worked in a factory ( I did as a student) you’ll get it. Also name checks the paragons and the chesters who did a great doowop lp.

Listen to Horses prob her best album. I came across factory on a cassette (remember them?) of 70s New York music.

Are Nordic giants playing Brighton? I don’t go to gigs on a Friday because my wife works. Friday night is wine time with her. Hehe

        Dom x

Ps have you come across the Facebook page wtf are you listening to? I post everyday and have also come across some great stuff. I think most of members live in us.

    1. Shame it’s on a Friday – you’ll be enjoying a beverage at home! My partner will be going – not sure I can manage it with stupid slipped disc and babysitting and all. We’re kinda friends with KPS – they liked my photos of them and we became quite chummy – same thing happened with Nordics. Will check on info about where they’re playing – brain a bit confused at the mo – I blame the morphine! Have a good Friday night x

    1. Thanks for the J&M tip off! Thinking of catching Marc Almond at the Dome next year – is that where you get a good view? 😉 We saw Bat for Lashes there but wasn’t using chair then. M enjoyed KPS last night and me back a 10″ signed by the boys – and they gave me a free t-shirt too! My deck doesn’t quite know what to make of the 10″!

  2. The dome is council owned so if you are disabled you should be able to go to see gigs for free. Your carer has to pay but two for one is pretty cool don’t you think?
Tell me more about KPS. Is that an acronym for Kentucky peanut studio? Lol
