In the second of these posts on the BBC TV Centre I look at the studios, many of which are going to be demolished due to the de-centralisation of the BBC. Some of the studios I visited are still in good working order – the lighting rigs are not out of date, and the thought of the demolition of these magnificent cathedral-like spaces is a sad waste.

Scenery is moved along the corridor circling the studios, a space specifically designed for the purpose and marked with the years of studio work, spilled scenery paint and oil. Schedules and scenery notes are taped to the walls, and discarded props show the history and workings of what was once one of the biggest broadcasting centres in the world.
